I’m Karlien Bothma, an Occupational Therapist with over 19 years of clinical experience and a Licensed Sensory Intelligence® Practitioner.
I spent much of my career working in paediatrics, where I developed a deep appreciation for the way our sensory systems influence how we function, feel, respond and engage with the world around us. That experience shaped the holistic approach I still bring to my work today.
In 2023, following a significant season of change in my own life, I founded Rooted for Success. What began as a new professional direction gradually became an opportunity to bring together my clinical experience, my understanding of sensory processing and my passion for helping people live in a way that is more sustainable and supportive of who they are.
Today, much of my work focuses on adults and sensory wellbeing.
As a Licensed Sensory Intelligence® Practitioner, I help people discover their unique sensory identity and understand how it may be influencing their stress, energy, attention, emotions, relationships and everyday functioning.
Rather than simply trying to cope better or push through, we become curious about what the nervous system is communicating.
Through the Sensory Matrix™ assessment, individual consultations and my Sensory Rebalance programme, I help clients translate that understanding into practical strategies they can use in real life.
My approach is grounded in a simple belief: there is no one-size-fits-all way to regulate well.
What calms one person may frustrate another. An environment that energises one person may leave someone else completely depleted. Understanding these individual differences gives us an opportunity to stop working against ourselves and begin making more intentional choices about how we live, work, rest and relate to others.
My goal through Rooted for Success is therefore not to change who you are, but to help you understand yourself more deeply and build practical, sustainable ways of supporting your nervous system in everyday life.
